Registration in the NRGD
If you would like to be registered in the Netherlands Register of Court Experts (NRGD), you can start by submitting an application for registration.
With this application, the NRGD assesses whether you can be admitted to the register as a court expert. Your knowledge, experience and working methods are assessed against the applicable standards for the relevant field of expertise.
Re-registration
If you are already registered with the NRGD, you can apply to renew your registration using the re-registration application form.
Preparing your application
Each field of expertise has specific requirements and documents that must be submitted with your application.
On the page for your field of expertise, you will find:
- the assessment standards for registration
- information about the required documents
- additional documents to support your application, such as the Data Anonymisation Guideline and information about the Members of the Advisory Committee for Assessments
We recommend that you read this information carefully and gather all required documents before submitting your application.
Start your application
Once you have gathered the necessary information and documents, you can submit your re-application using this application form.
Using this form, you can:
- enter your personal details
- indicate the field of expertise for which you are applying for registration
- upload the required documents
Please note that once you open the application form, you will leave the website.
How the registration process works
To apply for registration, please use this application form.
Please include all required documents with your application. The requirements and supporting documents vary depending on the field of expertise.
Before submitting your application, you can use the relevant checklist to make sure you have included everything required.
Once we have received your application, we will check whether all required documents have been submitted.
If any documents required for the assessment are missing, you will have four weeks to submit them.
Important
If documents are still missing after this period, if the additional information provided is incomplete, or if the required documents are not submitted within the four-week period, the NRGD may decide not to consider your application.
You may lodge an objection against this decision and subsequently appeal it. See Step 5.
Once your application is complete, the substantive assessment will begin.
An Advisory Committee for Assessments will review the documents and case reports you have submitted to assess your expertise, professional competence and working methods.
The committee will then advise the Board, which will decide on your application for registration.
During the assessment
You will generally not receive any updates while your application is being assessed, unless the process takes longer than expected.
However, we may contact you if:
- additional information is needed;
- you need to submit an additional report; or
- you are invited to an oral assessment.
You will generally be informed of the outcome within approximately three to four months.
Once the assessment is complete, you will receive the Board’s decision on your application by email.
If you disagree with the Board’s decision, you may lodge an objection.
Important
- Your notice of objection must be received within six weeks of the date on which the decision was sent.
- The Board will refer your objection to an independent advisory committee for objections.
- The Board will normally decide on your objection within 12 weeks.
- This period may be extended once by a further six weeks.
If the Board upholds its decision, you may appeal to the administrative court.
Please note
Lodging an objection or appeal does not suspend the decision.
If you reapply within two years after your registration has expired or your application has been rejected, you may be eligible for an accelerated route. Under this route, you only need to submit three new case reports.

Please note
You will only be re-entered in the register once the Board has made a positive decision on your new application.
