The NRGD has published its Annual Report 2025, reflecting on a year marked by growth, innovation and collaboration. As the NRGD celebrated its fifteenth anniversary, 2025 also saw significant progress in strengthening the quality and reliability of forensic expertise within the administration of justice.
Throughout the year, the NRGD continued to develop and update quality standards across a range of fields of expertise. Important milestones included the introduction of Bloodstain Pattern Analysis as a new field of expertise, the publication of an addendum to the NRGD Code of Conduct on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the recognition of several forensic training programmes, enabling a more efficient route to registration for future court experts.
The NRGD also remained actively involved in national and international developments. Dutch experts contributed to the completion of the new ISO 21043 standards for forensic sciences, while the NRGD continued to strengthen cooperation with partners across the forensic and judicial community. In addition, work progressed on My NRGD, a new digital environment that will further improve the registration process and user experience for court experts.
The Annual Report demonstrates how the NRGD continues to build on its core mission: safeguarding the quality, independence and professionalism of court experts, while responding to new developments within forensic science and the justice system.
