The Organization of Scientific Area Committees for Forensic Science (OSAC) recently published a lexicon (in English) to help facilitate clear communication.
The forensic sciences include dozens of disciplines, each with its own history and vocabulary. The list of terms and their meaning can be accessed from the OSAC website.
The terms and definitions come from various sources such as: published literature, specialized dictionaries, scientific working groups, books, journal articles and technical reports. In addition, the OSAC subcommittees have generated or modified many definitions.
