Regulation on Postponement of Re-registration Applications

The NRGD may, on account of personal circumstances, grant an applicant an extension of six months to submit a re-registration application. In exceptional cases, a further six-month extension may be granted once only. Personal circumstances may include, for example, illness or the death of a close relative.

Where registrations do not expire simultaneously, the NRGD may, ex officio, grant an applicant a six-month extension to enable the simultaneous assessment of multiple re-registration applications. This period may be extended once only by a further six months.

The authority to decide on the granting of an extension lies with the Director of the NRGD Office and may be delegated to policy or administrative staff.

Explanatory Notes

In practice, it is often desirable to allow applicants additional time to submit their re-registration applications. This may be the case, for example, where an applicant has been unable to compile the required number of reports in time due to personal circumstances. In such instances, it is customary for a six-month extension to be granted, with a maximum of one year.

The NRGD may also grant an extension ex officio in order to facilitate the clustering of assessments. This may be desirable in smaller fields of expertise, where foreign assessors need to travel to the Netherlands to assess applications, or where an applicant holds multiple registrations with varying expiry dates, making it more practical to handle the applications simultaneously.

Entry into Force

This regulation shall enter into force on 12 July 2024.
