Jan de Keijser appointed as Member of the Board

The NRGD is delighted to announce that Prof. (Jan) De Keijser (1968) was appointed Member of the Board of the Netherlands Register of Court Experts (NRGD) as of 1 January 2018.

Mr de Keijser studied political science at Leiden University. In March 2000 he obtained his PhD, with a cum laude distinction, in social sciences at Leiden University with a thesis on the meaning of criminal theories in the practice of sentencing. In 2010, Mr de Keijser joined the Criminology department as Associate University Lecturer at Leiden University.

Since November 2014 he has worked as Associate Professor of Criminology at the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology. Prof. de Keijser is an experienced scientist whose research is characterised by a common theme involving the relationship between evidence and forensic expertise. He has a good overview of the trends in different forensic fields, especially DNA, which is subject to rapid developments. His research concerns natural scientific as well as behavioural expert perspectives. Being a criminologist, his research forms a bridge between the judiciary and science.
